      About the Concrete, Resin & Epoxy Volume Planner

      This tool works out how much material to buy and mix for casting, coating and construction projects — concrete, epoxy resin, polyester resin, silicone mould rubber and plaster — based on the actual shape and dimensions of what you're pouring. Rather than a single generic volume calculator, it adapts to nine common project types, splits large pours into a batch plan you can actually follow, and surfaces the specific mistakes that ruin each type of project.

      How to use it

      1. Pick your project type and the shape that matches what you're measuring — rectangle, circle, ring, an irregular shape, or several cavities at once.
      2. Enter your dimensions and pour depth in whichever unit you measured in (mm, cm, m or inches).
      3. Choose your material — this fills in a sensible default mix ratio, density and waste allowance, which you can still adjust.
      4. Add a price and, if you know it, a bag/kit size, plus a batch limit and pot life if your material needs splitting into stages.
      5. Read off the total volume, weight, mix breakdown, batch plan and cost, and check the warnings and tips panels before you start mixing.

      Frequently asked questions

      How much resin do I need for a river table?

      Measure the length and average width of the river channel and your pour depth, then enter those with your resin's mix ratio. River tables are usually poured in layers, so set a batch limit matching your resin's maximum pour depth and the tool will lay out a layer-by-layer plan.

      Do I need to add extra resin or concrete for waste?

      Yes — mixing cups, stir sticks, drips and porous surfaces all soak up material. Most people add 5-10% extra for resin and epoxy, and a similar margin for concrete to cover uneven ground. Use the waste slider to set this per project.

      What's the difference between coating resin and deep pour resin here?

      Coating (table top) epoxy is usually mixed close to 1:1 and poured thin. Deep pour epoxy uses a different ratio, often around 2:1, and is formulated to cure without overheating in thicker layers. Choose whichever matches your actual product, since it changes the default ratio and density used in the calculations.

      Can I use this for silicone mould making?

      Yes. Choose Silicone mould rubber as the material, and if you're casting a mould around an object, use the subtract-volume field to remove the object's volume from the mould box, so you only order silicone for the space it actually fills.

      Why has my project been split into several batches?

      If you set a batch size limit — matching your resin's maximum safe pour volume or your mixing container size — the total is split into batches at or under that limit, so you know how many mixes to prepare and pour within your material's working time.
